FULLERTON, CA – Hope International wrapped up a three-week home stretch of six straight games in the Darling Pavilion with a tilt against No. 20 William Jessup. The Royals got off to a great start against the Warriors and while the Jessup squad made it interesting at the end, HIU was able to hang on for its fifth win against a ranked opponent in the 2016-17 season.
FULLERTON, CA – Hope International hosted No. 5 Westmont on Saturday in the second-to-last game of a six-game home stand and came out on top with a strong push in the second half. Liam Hunt (JR/San Anselmo, CA) and Charles Trotter (SO/Slidell, LA) each had impressive performances for HIU in the win as HIU split the season series against Westmont with the victory.
FULLERTON, CA – (RV) Hope International hosted its final non-conference tilt of the 2016-17 regular season on January 23 at 6:30 pm against the Shepherd (CA) Thundering Herd. HIU had already won the previous two meetings against Shepherd by double digits in each and the last meeting proved no different for the Royals.
FULLERTON, CA – (RV) Hope International University hosted the (RV) Vanguard Lions on Saturday night, January 21 in the Darling Pavilion and grabbed its fifth GSAC win of the year after a hard-fought battle against the Lions. Neither side played beautiful basketball, but in the end HIU's grit won out and the Royals escaped with a 14-point win in regulation for their third-straight GSAC win.
FULLERTON, CA – (RV) Hope International hosted Menlo on January 19 in a gritty, defensive battle that ended with a win for the Royals. The Oaks played exceptional defense throughout the game and got excellent offense from their bench, but a run early in the second half allowed HIU to outlast the Oaks for its fourth GSAC win of the year.
FULLERTON, CA – The (RV) Royals add another tally to their win column after defeating No. 14 Arizona Christian at home. The Firestorm punched the Royals in the mouth early and led by as many as 11 in the first half but HIU kept its composure and would take a lead by the half before going on to win by double digits to notch its second win of the year against a ranked opponent.
LA MIRADA, CA – The (RV) Hope International University Royals traveled to face No. 3 Biola in Chase Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 10, in the nightcap of a GSAC doubleheader. The Royals fought hard but were systematically turned away and ultimately fell by 14 points on the road.
