Fullerton, CA- Senior Steve Jurich has been named an NCCAA Men's Basketball 1st Team All-American as announced recently by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Jurich led the NAIA and NCCAA in rebounding.
Jurich, from Scottsdale, AZ, finished the season averaging 13.8 points (a HIU team high) and 12.6 rebounds. He finished the year with 15 double-doubles (most in the GSAC and 6th in the NAIA).
Offensively, he poured in his Hope International career high of 27 points at Pacific Union and Westmont. He scored 20 points or more on seven different occasions.
Rebounding was his best asset as his vision of a missed shot's trajectory is among the best around. His season of 22 games with ten plus rebounds speaks for itself. Five of the six games, he did not finish with ten or more rebounds he grabbed 9 rebounds. His established his career high of 21 rebounds against La Sierra. He impressed with 20 rebounds against The Master's in the NCCAA Western Regional Final.
Speaking of NCCAA opponents, Jurich established numbers of 14.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest against them.
Jurich led Hope international back to the NCCAA National tournament where the Royals finished fourth.
