Fullerton, CA- Two Hope International Men's Volleyball players earned NAIA Player of the Week honors as announced by the MAMVIC on Monday. Senior Danilo Pereira was named the NAIA Setter of the Week while Senior Henry Valiente garnered NAIA Libero of the Week honors.

Pereira, from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, produced 183 assists in their five matches last week- all against MAMVIC schools. His 10.17 assists per set last week are almost exactly the same as his 10.11 assists per sets he is averaging on the year. An added bonus was that Pereira collected 15 kills while hitting .480.

Valiente, the native of Honolulu, HI, averaged just under 3 digs per set over the five matches in a three day span. He performed slightly higher than the 2.5 digs he is averaging for the season. He delivered a 95% passing percentage by committing just three errors in 60 passing attempts.

The HIU duo helped the Royals finish 3-2 last week at the St. Ambrose Fighting Bee Classic. HIU knocked off #6 Graceland and #5 Grand View along with Hannibal-LaGrange for their three victories. Their two loses came at the hands of the #1 Park and #2 St. Ambrose.

The Royals played last week as the #7 ranked team in the NAIA but because of their strong showing in Iowa they have moved up to #4 in the NAIA this week.
