RIVERSIDE, CA – Hope International kept its winning streak alive with a sweep of the St. Katherine Firebirds on Thursday, Aug. 24 at La Sierra in their volleyball tournament. The Royals were able to make quick and efficient work of the Firebirds and got their fourth win in a row for the effort.

The Royals saw the most resistance in the first set as the Firebirds avoided hitting in the negative and produced seven kills as a team – the Royals overcame that with 13 kills of their own and a .333 attack rate as a team (13-3-30) to finish well ahead with a 25-14 win to begin the match.

HIU was able to take advantage of SKC miscues in set two as the Firebirds swung into the negative as a team with ten attack errors. The Royals also dipped in their efficiency as a team with four errors and a .161 attack rate, but it was still enough to net them their best win of the night at 25-10 in set two.

Both offenses bounced back in set three as passing improved on each side of the net. SKC avoided the negative attack rate in the third and HIU had its most efficient set of the night with 10 kills on 21 swings with only a single error. SKC offered a repeat performance of its first set with seven kills and fell to HIU by double digits once again, 25-11.

HIU freshman Camryn Rowell took over as the leader on offense for the night with 12 kills and a very tidy .476 attack percentage. Jessica Zieg handed out 17 assists during the match and Natalie Hadder served four aces from the line – defensively, Shea Beeman made 16 digs for HIU and Zieg combined with Hallie Sullivan twice on the block for HIU.

The Royals will have another test tomorrow in Riverside as they take on No. 16 Cornerstone (MI) in their second match at the La Sierra tournament. Links to live coverage will be available on the Royals' website at hiuroyals.com.
