FULLERTON, CA – Hope International held its third annual Signing Day event on May 6, 2017 for its incoming class of athletes. The Royals have used this event to welcome new athletes into the university and introduce them to the Athletics department.

Coach Jessica Walker brought four athletes to the 2017 Signing Day event between her women's volleyball team and the newly added beach volleyball club team that will play beginning in the spring of 2018. Walker also intends to add three more to the roster that were not able to attend – Measha Lindstrand, Megan Ritchie, and Camryn Rowell will all be on the roster in 2017 at setter, outside hitter, and setter, respectively.

Paula Alferez is the first recruit to the club beach team and joins HIU from El Monte HS – Alferez will only play on the women's beach club.

Natalia Hadder is an outside hitter who comes to HIU from Yucaipa HS as a true freshman – Hadder helped her team to a league championship, a CIF Playoff appearance, and collected a handful of individual accolades. Additionally, Hadder brings excellent academics to the team as a CSF Highest Honors scholar.

The other two athletes in attendance for Signing Day are both junior college transfers. Carleigh Cruz joins HIU from Rio Hondo College as a defensive specialist and libero. Cruz averaged 2.6 digs per set and led the team with 200 her sophomore season while serving up 17 aces and dishing 63 assists.

Dayanerrah Taoete comes to HIU from Mt. San Jacinto College as an outside hitter and opposite – Taoete averaged just over two kills per set and tallied 190 in her freshman season and 106 kills (2.9/set) in her sophomore season.

HIU Athletics is proud to welcome these and all the other incoming athletes for the 2017-18 academic year – best of luck in your seasons and go Royals!
