Clarence DeVera warms up for the second day of the ACU Spring Invite

PHOENIX, AZ – Hope International traveled on Monday and Tuesday to take part in the Arizona Christian Spring Invitational at the Moon Valley Country Club. The Royals finished 12th overall in a field of 14 teams and got another good showing from Clarence DeVera (JR/Long Beach, CA) in their first event of the spring season.

DeVera finished four strokes over par for the tournament after turning in cards of 77, 73, and 70 in the three rounds. DeVera showed the most improvement of any Royal and consistently shaved strokes off in between rounds to finish tied for 15th overall.

Erick Liscio (JR/Temecula, CA) turned in cards of 75, 78, and 77 in the three rounds to place 41st overall at 14 over par. After shooting his best round in his first trip around the links Liscio was able to improve round two to three to finish in a three-way tie for 41st.

Justin Cosca (JR/Buena Park, CA) was two strokes off Liscio's pace and finished in a five-way tie for 49th after shooting rounds of 79, 75, and 78 to end at 16 over par. Cosca was able to improve from his opening round to move up the leaderboard.

TJ Kaczan (SO/Jersey City, NJ) played his first tournament as a Royal and shot rounds of 76, 77, and 84 in his debut. Kaczan finished at 21 over par in a tie for 61st as the fourth Royal to score for HIU. Alec Carlson (FR/Riverside, CA) shot rounds of 76, 85, and 93 to finish tied for 72nd as the last Royal in the team of five. Chris Feltman (FR/Fountain Valley, CA) played as an individual for HIU and shot rounds of 79, 87, and 76 to finish in 66th.

The Royals will play their next tournament on Feb. 27 & 28 at The Master's Spring Invite at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club. Check hiuroyals.com at the conclusion of the tournament for a recap and action shots from the event.
