FULLERTON, CA – Hope International hosted No. 3 Westmont on Saturday in the second-to-last game of a six-game home stand and suffered its second loss to the Warriors this season in regulation. The Royals never led and at the final buzzer, HIU took its eight GSAC loss of the season with a 26-78 final tally.

The Warriors opened the game on a tear with a 17-0 lead after the first seven minutes of play. The Royals were able to get on the board after Julia Pihl (SO/Oceanside, CA) entered the ball game for HIU and knocked down a triple with just over minutes left in the first quarter. At the break between quarters one and two the Royals trailed Westmont 21-3 and would go on to score another four points in the second period, trailing 37-7 at the half with 19 points coming off of HIU turnovers.

The Royals came out of the halftime break and scored almost triple the total that they posted in the first half - the Royals improved their shooting percentage by almost 10% from the field and 15% from three-point range to finish with a 78-26 final score. Pihl led with seven points off the bench and finished the night shooting 3-8 from the field - Emily Terwilliger (SR/Susanville, CA) pulled in eight rebounds during the loss.

The Royals fall to 5-13 this season after the loss and are now 0-8 in GSAC this year - the Royals will be back on the hardwood next week with their last game of a six-game stretch at home on Feb. 2 against William Jessup.
