HIU led by 10 after the first quarter, outscoring the visiting Firebirds 17-7 in the period with a scoring run powered by Olisa Horn, Emily Terwilliger, and Coulter Bowlen. HIU came out of the locker room in cruise control and coasted to their first home win of the season, going shot for shot with the Firebirds in the second half. The Royals collected an impressive 46 defensive rebounds and finished with 62 overall, nearly doubling the SKC team total for the game.

Oliver sniffed a triple-double with six points, six assists, and eight boards and Coach Bill Crammer emptied the bench, allowing everyone on the roster to see the floor at one point or another in the win.

HIU improves to 5-12 overall after snapping a losing streak that had stretched to the previous calendar year – the Royals now ready for No. 3 Westmont on Saturday before playing the last of a six-game home stretch next Thursday against William Jessup.
