LA MIRADA, CA – Hope International traveled on Tuesday, January 10 to face (RV) Biola in their fourth GSAC contest of 2016-17. The Royals struggled to keep pace with the Eagles and fell by 20+ for the fourth time this season.

Biola blitzed HIU 17-6 in the opening quarter and outscored the Royals in the second quarter as well to build a 19-35 lead at the half. The Royals did a much better job of scoring in the second quarter with 13 points in the period, but at the break HIU trailed by 16 after the Eagles shot 40% from the floor. HIU missed all their three-point attempts in the first half while Biola knocked down six triples and hauled in as many offensive rebounds as HIU totaled as a team.

The Royals exploded in the second half with 17 in each quarter and shot 57% from the field as a team, but the late effort was not enough to eke out a win. HIU was able to splash in a pair of triples in the second half and improved their effort on the glass, but ultimately would fall to the Eagles 53-74 on the road in Chase Gymnasium.

Jazzmyn Oliver (SR/Rancho Cucamonga, CA) bounced back after having her scoring streak snapped in the previous game with a double-double (17 points, 15 rebounds) to lead HIU. Emily Terwilliger (SR/Susanville, CA) and Coulter Bowlen (JR/Port Jefferson Station, NY) scored 12 apiece while Sydney Lopez (JR/Buena Park, CA) dished five assists and snared two steals.

The Royals fall to 4-9 overall and are still searching for their first GSAC win of 2016-17 at 0-4 in conference play. With Arizona Christian coming to town on Thursday, January 12, the Royals will have a short week to prep for the Firestorm before returning to action once again.
