LA HABRA, CA- The Royals faced Mills College at home in La Habra on Monday, March 21. The Royals took the match with an impressive win of 9-0 for their first victory of the 2016 season.

Coach Becca Budai was very pleased with her team's win. She said, "The ladies played well today, and they were able to stay focused and pull out the win." She noted that "Jazsmen Hilbert (JR/San Diego, CA) had a huge personal win by clenching the tiebreaker [in singles] 10-4."

In fact, all of the Royals were able to pull out a win today. When it came to doubles, Haley Robles (FR/Yorba Linda, CA) and Sabrina Miller (SR/Lancaster, CA) took an 8-0 sweeping win over their competitors. Jessica Cornea (JR/Anaheim, CA) and Chelsea Bollinger (SR/Riverside, CA) allowed just two points to Mills in an 8-2 win, while Hilbert and Celeste Chavez (FR/Whittier, CA) conceded three points and finished with a win of 8-3.

The singles matches were a breeze for HIU as well. As Coach Budai noted Hilbert played a tough match and walked away with a final tally of 6-3, 3-6 (10-4). Cornea dominated her competitor and swept her singles match 6-0, 6-0. Miller also took a win in singles with a 6-4, 6-2 finish. Bollinger beat her component with a final tally of 6-2, 6-2. Robles won her singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 finish. Finally, Chavez won in her singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 finish.

The next game for HIU will be played tomorrow on Tuesday, Mar. 22, at home in La Habra against Colby College begninning at 9:00 AM.
