Fullerton, CA- Hope International University is pleased to announce the hiring of Jaime Canterbury-Winslow to be the coach of the newly established HIU Men's and Women's Cross Country teams. When the Royals lace up their shoes for their first meet in Fall 2012, they will lean heavily on the expertise of the 15 time NAIA All-American and former professional distance runner.

Athletic Director John Turek stated, "I believe Jaime is going to bring instant credibility to our program. Her credentials are amazing at the National level. Her name as well as championship resume are well known in the running world."

Coach Winslow commented, "I am excited to start a new program- we have a great opportunity. Hope International University has a lot to offer and cross country will be a great fit."

Winslow joins the Royals coaching staff after spending the Fall 2011Cross Country season as an Assistant Coach at Azusa Pacific University. She was a member of a staff that coached 4 NAIA All-Americans and finished second at NAIA Nationals on the women's side. Prior to her role as an assistant coach, she ran professionally as a member of the Adidas-McMillan Elite team in Flagstaff, AZ.

Even with success as a coach and professionally, Coach Winslow made a real name for herself as a collegiate athlete at APU. In cross country, she finished her career as a 3 time All-American. She was the 5K National Champion as a Junior. She served as the team captain her final two years which includes winning the Team National Championship in 2008.

Along with cross country, Winslow was a four year member of the indoor and outdoor track teams. Her accolades include being a 12 time NAIA All-American and 3 time Individual National Champion in the indoor mile, the outdoor 3K and 1500m. The Cougars claimed the 2007 Outdoor National Championship. At the time Winslow wrapped up her Azusa Pacific career she held the school record in the 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m.

Back in her prep days, Winslow ran for running powerhouse Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, CA.

Turek added, "I am thrilled we were able to land such a quality coach to inaugurate our program."

Winslow can claim as much success in the classroom as she can in running shoes. Upon graduating with Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in May 2009, she made the Dean's Academic List every semester.

Coach Winslow and her husband Ben reside in Upland. The Winslows attend Foothill Community Church in Azusa.
